Regulations

 

Music

1. Competitors must prepare the music for the performance of their works. 
2. Competitors must use CDs contarining only the music needed for the performance anc must submit them to the Competition Secretariat during the  registration period. (Competitors may retrieve their CDs if wished but should get them on their own) 
3. Competitors must write their participating category(Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Ethnic Dance-Traditional, Creative/Prejunior, Junior, Senior/Solo, Couple), their names, title of work, and name of the choreographer on the case and surface of the recorded CD before submission. On CD for one work should be submitted. 
4. Competitors should prepare additional copy of the CDs and CD players for practicing purpose on their own. 
5. Music accompanist is not allowed. 

 

Video(Preliminaries) Requirements

1. Excerpts from live performances are not acceptable. 
2. practice clothes must be worn, not costumes (excluding Ethnic Dance participants) 
3. The full body should be kept in view, not too far away. 

 

Stage Materials

Competitors may use small materials in the necessity of their performances. However, materials should be portable by competitors and not have possibility of damaging the stage or disturbing the performance of other competitors .(Forbidden materials : any kind of powder, liquid, flammable substances)

 

Jury

1. Jury comprises of dance professionals appointed by the Competition Executive Committee. 
2. Ballet jury judges solo and couple competitors individually.  
3. Jury reserves right to withhold any awards, or give one type of award to multiple competitors. 
4. Competitors cannot raise opposition to decisions made by the jury and Competition Executive Committee. 
5. Jury may rearrange the performance running time of competitors if needed for a smoother procedure of the competition.

 

Copyright

1. The Competition Executive Committee retains the following rights regarding works occuming during the period of the competition(including media interviews and gala performances) 
a) Rights to video-tape, record, and take photographs of the event 
b) Rights to publish, copy, broadcast, sell, and exhibit contents of the event 
2. Competitors cannot raise opposition or demand compensation for the copyrights belonging to statemant 1. 
3. When using choreographies, music, or costumes that require the permission of original author, competitors must receive permission from the author beforehand. Also, they must submit documents proving such permission to the competition secreatariat during application period. Seoul International Cultural Foundation is not responsible for any legal problems arising from not adhering to this rule. 

Accommodations (including meals) Expenses 

1. During competition period the Competition Executive Committee shall provide the accommodation and meals for only overseas competitors. Expensis otherwise incurred are not paid by the Committee. 
2. Expenses provided by the Competition Excutive committee are applicable to only Semifinalists and Finalists. 
3. Domestic competitors and Korean Competitors living abroad should take care their own expenses. 
4. The Competition Secretariat may provide competitors with hotel information, and upon request, make reservations for them. All relevant costs are the competitors‘ responsibility. 

 

Photo shoots & Interviews

All competitors must comply with the photo shoots and interviews arranged by the Competition Ecutive Committee. For other photo shoots and interviews, the competitors must acquire prior consent of the Competition Executive Committee. All competitors and related persons must acquire prior consent of the Competition Executive Committee for all shoots, video and photo, during the competition period(including opening and closing ceremonies). 

 

Orientation

Semi-finalists must arrive on time and place notified by the Competitiong secretariat for orientation and the number draw for deciding the order of the competition. The competition Secretariat may summon Finalists for orientation after Semi-finals if needed. 

 

Insurance

The Competition Executive Committee is not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or property losses that may occur to competitors during traveling and competition period. Competitiors must persinally apply for insurance in case of illnesses and for possible accidents. 

 

Additional Indicatios

1. The order of the performance is detemined by drawing of numbers conducted in presence of all competitors. The order of performance for finalists is the same as in Semi-finals, excluding those who have not made into Finals. In Ballet Pre-junior I, II divisions, the order of performance is from youngest to oldest participant age. 
2. All performances are held in public. (Except Preliminaries due to video screening conditions) 
3. All materials needed for the competition including costumes, shoes, and make-up are to be prepared by the competitors themselves. 
4. Stage setting marerial is not permitted. 
5. competitors may only use lightings permitted by the Competition Executive Committee during the competition(basic white lighting without spotlights is uesd). 
6. Nude performances are not permitted.
